Grand Junction has formed a community of collective inhabitants that either create art, enjoy viewing art, or a nice mix of both. Because of this, Grand Junction is home to many art galleries accessible to the public. Whether they are set around the city itself or enclosed in particular exhibits, art is always available for your eyes to feast upon.
The Art Center, short for the Western Colorado Center for the Arts, is a prestigious institution serving all sectors of the arts. With over 300 works throughout the center, appreciation of the arts runs endless. In addition, numerous classes are also available for people of all ages to participate in. Arts and crafts, Ceramics, workshops, and field trips offer unique opportunities to take your own part in art in a specialized way.
Art around the city has become quite an icon for Grand Junction. Don’t be surprised if you spot a large, elegant piece of art right next to you on the sidewalk. That is because of Art on the Corner, which arranges over 100 sculptures, all of different sizes and structures, around Grand Junction. While most of the artwork stays in its permanent spot year round, there are also seasonal additions as well. Those are featured at a time and then sold at a later date. It has continued to blossom since its creation in 1984, and has been become nationally recognized and attempted to duplicate in other cities.
