Overview
Colorado Cellars Winery is Colorado’s oldest and largest winery. Founded in 1978 as Colorado Mountain Vineyards, today’s brands also include Rocky Mountain Vineyards® and the Orchard Mesa Wine Company.
Situated at the extreme western edge of Colorado, the Grand Valley of the Colorado River has long been famous for it’s production of premium quality fruit. Although wine grapes have been grown in the Grand Valley off and on for over fifty years, they have only been grown commercially since 1978, and the Grand Valley of Colorado has been designated a viticultural area only since 1991.
Since the winery’s beginning, wine grape acreage has increased steadily to a total of about 450 acres today. The original winery has also grown and expanded to what is known today as Colorado Cellars Winery – the state’s oldest and largest family operated winery.
