Grand Junction Symphony’s 16th annual Young Artist Competition


The Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra is now accepting applications from young artists who wish to participate in our 2008-2009 Young Artist Competition. This year’s competition is open to Piano students.

The winner will be given the opportunity to perform with the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra during the 2009-2010 Season. The first place winner will also receive a cash prize of $1500. The second place winner will receive a cash prize of $500. Finalists will be invited to perform on Sunday, March 15, 2009 at the Recital Hall in the Moss Performing Arts Center at Mesa State College.

The competition is open to students that are 25 years old or younger as of January 1, 2009. More information, including requirements and application procedures are available on the Grand Junction Symphony’s website: www.gjsymphony.org.

Last season’s winner, Samuel Price, will be performing with the orchestra on Tuesday April 7, 2009 at 7:30 pm. The GJSO is proud to bring to stage these talented students who for years have impressed listeners in the Grand Valley.
